Did you know that in the lifetime of an average millennial, they are expected to take over 25,000 selfies? For this reason, they want their skin to look perfect. Even if you aren’t a millennial, you probably want nice skin too. What’s the best way to do that? Take a trip to the spa, of course! Spas offer many skin rejuvenating treatments like facials and chemical peels.

Chemical peels are a form of exfoliation that use chemicals to remove dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. Treatments take up to sixty minutes, and the peeling process can last anywhere from three to five days following the treatment. They can improve your skin’s appearance by improving dull spots, aging lines, fine lines, and wrinkles.

There is a wide range of chemical peels, and they peel to different depths of the skin. These different levels range from very superficial to deep. The depth depends on the acidity, the strength, and how long it stays on the skin.

  • Very superficial: This procedure only affects the skin’s epidermis. Despite its lack of depth, you will still see results, though. Very superficial chemical peels can provide great results for middle-aged or older clients who have not been exfoliating on their own. It can unclog pores and increase cell turnover.
  • Superficial: Superficial chemical peels feel tingly or even a little hot, but they do not require healing like moderate and deep peels do. These lighter chemical peels may be done in a series over the course of a few weeks to get the desired result.
  • Moderate: Moderate peels, as well as deep peels, can reach into the living part of the skin known as the dermis. A medical spa may offer a more aggressive peel, meaning more risk, more discomfort, and more healing time.
  • Deep: Deep chemical peels are limited to phenol peels, which are the strongest of the chemical solutions. These peels should only be performed by a plastic surgeon. They typically have the most dramatic results, but there are more risks involved. They also require about 10 days of downtime to heal.

Regardless of the type of peel you get, your skin will need to be protected from the sun for a short time afterward. You skin will look beautiful and brand new again. Contact us today to learn more about our chemical peels and other rejuvenating facials.
